The Crowning Hour
Crowns held above two heads, candlelight on old walls.
Crowns held above two heads, candlelight on old walls. The crowning hour is the most photographed moment we know, and still, every single time, it finds a way to be new.
Tradition gives a wedding its spine. The circling, the candles, the crowns exchanged over their heads, each gesture centuries older than any of us in the room, and somehow perfectly theirs.
We work these ceremonies quietly, from the edges, with long lenses and short breaths. What we bring home is not a record of a ritual. It is the face of a mother during it.
