What a film is, in this house

A Saint Weddings film runs between two and six minutes, depending on what the day gave us, and is cut from nothing but your day, the vows as they were spoken into the microphone we hid in the flowers, the band tuning, your friends failing to whisper. No stock music unless you ask for it, no voice over, no template. When the film ends, people breathe out. That is the test it has to pass.

Alongside the short film, every commission with film receives the full ceremony and the speeches as clean, complete edits. The short cut is for the world, if you choose to show it. The full edits are for the two of you, in twenty years, on an anniversary with wine.

Films are shot by a second team that moves the way our photographers move, from the edges, on prime lenses, without rigs in the aisle or lights in anyone's eyes. Most guests never realise a film was being made until they are watching it.

No rigs in the aisle, no lights in anyone's eyes. The film crew works exactly like the photographers, invisibly, so the ceremony stays a ceremony and not a set.

Every wedding has its own tempo. A city elopement cuts quick and bright. A candlelit crowning breathes slowly. We edit to the day we witnessed, never to a template.
