A wedding photographer for the Amalfi Coast

The coast is vertical. Terraces hang over the sea, staircases stand in for streets, and the light arrives late, gilded and generous. Photographing a wedding here is a mountain sport with a dress code, and it is one of the great joys of this work.

A coastline built for the last hour of light

Everything the Amalfi Coast is famous for happens in the final ninety minutes of the day. The cliffs turn copper, the sea goes to silk, and every terrace from Ravello down to Positano becomes a stage. We build the whole photographic day backwards from that hour, so the vows, the portraits and the first toast each get the light they deserve.

Mornings belong to the quiet version of the coast. A walk through a lemon grove before the heat, coffee in an empty piazza, the dress hanging in a window with the sea behind it. Couples who give us an hour of that morning always thank themselves later.

Places we return to

The practical coast

The coast road is beautiful and slow, so we sleep in the town you marry in, never across the bay. Stairs are the true distance here. We carry light kits, scout every staircase in daylight, and keep a porter's respect for a long train on four hundred steps.

Boats solve what roads cannot. A portrait session on the water, Positano stacked behind you like an amphitheatre, takes forty minutes and gives the album its cover more often than not. If Capri is in your plans, we cross with you and photograph the crossing.

Coverage and pricing live with the editions. For everything else there is the questions page, and the commission sheet is one page away.

Planning notes

Working in Amalfi Coast

i.

When to marry here

May, June, September and early October. August is brave, hot and crowded, though the sea makes up for a lot. Winter weddings on the coast are rare and unreasonably beautiful.

ii.

The vertical schedule

Distances look small on a map and are measured in staircases. We time every move in steps, not kilometres, and your planner will love us for it.

iii.

On the water

A forty minute boat session below the cliffs is the single best portrait investment on this coast. We arrange the boat, the light does the rest.

Asked about Amalfi Coast

Three honest answers

Do you photograph weddings in Positano and Ravello?

Constantly, and they are different commissions. Positano is vertical theatre, best photographed from the sea and the staircases. Ravello is gardens and altitude, best in the first and last hour of light. We plan each town on its own terms.

What does an Amalfi Coast wedding photographer cost?

Editions begin at 1 900 euros, and most coast weddings commission The Edition at 3 400 euros with two photographers and a film. Because we sleep where you marry, travel is quoted honestly in one number, never reconstructed afterwards from receipts.

Can we do a day after session on Capri?

Yes, and we recommend it. The wedding day on this coast is full, and a slow morning on Capri, the Certosa cloisters, the Gardens of Augustus, a boat below the Faraglioni, gives the archive a second chapter without costing the wedding a minute.
