What does an Amalfi Coast wedding photographer cost?
In 2026, experienced wedding photographers on the Amalfi Coast quote roughly 2 500 to 7 500 euros for a full day, the luxury tier runs 8 000 to 20 000 euros, and combined photography with film reaches 25 000 at the top of the market. The coast adds its own arithmetic to every quote, stairs, boats and altitude, and this guide explains where the money actually goes.
The bands on the coast
- Entry, 1 500 to 2 500 euros. Local photographers early in their portfolio, single shooter, straightforward gallery. Honest work, limited margin for the coast's logistics.
- Established, 2 500 to 7 500 euros. Professionals with real coast weddings behind them, who already know which staircase your gown will hate and which terrace holds the last light.
- Luxury, 8 000 to 20 000 euros. Editorial studios with teams, scouting days, boat sessions and albums made by hand. Most large Ravello and Positano weddings commission in this band.
- Photography and film together, 10 000 to 25 000 euros. One studio, both crafts, one story. Increasingly the default for full weekend coast weddings.
Why the coast costs more than the mainland
The Amalfi Coast is vertical, and vertical is expensive. Every quote that knows the territory carries four line items the mainland never sees.
- Stairs and porters. Distances here are measured in steps, not kilometres. Moving a photography team, its kit and a bride's train through four hundred of them takes planning and hands.
- The boat. The signature portraits of Positano are made from the water. A private boat session below the cliffs is forty minutes that most couples call the best money of the day.
- Sleeping where you marry. The coast road is slow and unforgiving at night. Serious studios stay in your town rather than commuting, and price the stay into one number.
- The season. May, June, September and early October carry the demand. August works, but heat and crowds make it the coast's hardest month to photograph well.
Positano, Ravello and Capri price differently
The three great addresses of the coast make different demands. Positano is theatre from the sea, so budgets there should protect the boat session. Ravello sits three hundred metres up, gardens and altitude light, and rewards a photographer who knows the Terrace of Infinity's empty hours. Capri adds a crossing, and often a second day, to any commission.
Our own field notes cover each in detail, the Amalfi Coast page for the territory, with dedicated guides to Villa Cimbrone and Le Sirenuse.
Reading a coast quote honestly
Ask the same four questions we would ask. Is travel and the stay inside the number, or waiting in a second invoice? Is the boat included or an extra? Who exactly is coming, named in the contract? And when did the studio last work your venue, because the coast punishes first timers on a schedule.
The last question saves the most weddings. A photographer who knows that your Ravello ceremony loses its light twenty minutes before the printed sunset, or that the Positano lanes are impassable at seven in the evening in July, is not charging you for photographs. They are charging you for the day going right.
What the atelier's editions include, and where their investment begins, lives on the editions page. The commission sheet answers within one working day.
Quick answers
Asked often
How much should photography take from an Amalfi Coast wedding budget?
The working rule across the industry is ten to fifteen percent of the total for photography and film together. Coast weddings tend to sit at the top of that range because the logistics, boats, stairs and stays, are real costs that flow into every vendor's number.
Is a boat session really worth the extra cost in Positano?
Yes, without hesitation. Positano was built to be seen from the water, and the forty minute session below the cliffs produces the frames that end up largest in every album. If the budget forces a choice, take the boat over a second location.
Can we find a good photographer for under 2 000 euros on the coast?
You can find honest emerging talent at that level, usually local, usually single shooter. What you cannot buy at that price is coast experience, a team, a film or an album, so weigh what the day actually needs before deciding where to save.
Do photographers charge more for Capri?
Usually, modestly. Capri adds ferry crossings, island logistics and often an overnight stay to any commission. Many couples fold it in as a day after session instead, which spreads the cost and gives the archive a second chapter.
