Why this château is different

Saint-Tropez celebrates at sea level, in the harbour, on the sand, in the courtyards of the village hotels. The Messardière is the exception: a château built as a private folly in the 1890s and now run as one of the coast's palace hotels, standing on its own hill with the vineyards of Ramatuelle on one side and the full sweep of Pampelonne bay on the other. The drive climbs through pines and arrives at a facade of pale turrets, and the town's noise simply does not make it up the hill.

For a wedding this changes the arithmetic. Ceremony, dinner and party can hold one address without a single transfer through summer traffic, guests move between terraces rather than towns, and the couple can slip from the reception to a portrait over the bay in the time it takes a song to play. On a peninsula where distance is measured in patience, that is the deepest luxury the château sells.

The Messardière runs as a palace hotel in one of Europe's most watched resorts, and its weddings are coordinated affairs, planner led, privacy conscious, timed around the house's own rhythm and its guests. None of that limits photography that arrives prepared. Positions for the ceremony and the terrace portraits are agreed with the house and your planner in advance, and the park is generous enough that a wedding can be photographed entirely without an audience.

Discretion is the local dialect.
