A wedding photographer for Saint-Tropez
Saint-Tropez is a village pretending to be a resort, which is its secret. Behind the harbour and the legend sits a real peninsula, vineyards, pine hills, chapels, and the long sand of Pampelonne, and a wedding here can be as quiet or as theatrical as you decide. We photograph both versions, in linen weather, with the discretion the guest lists expect.
The peninsula, honestly
The postcard shows the Vieux Port, but the weddings happen on the peninsula behind it. Ramatuelle keeps the vineyards and the hilltop lanes, Gassin watches the whole gulf from its ridge, Grimaud adds a castle and La Croix-Valmer a quieter coast, and below them all runs Pampelonne, five kilometres of sand where the beach clubs live. It is a smaller, greener, more rural world than the name suggests, and it photographs that way, pines and vines first, superyachts second.
The light works differently here than on the eastern Riviera. Cap Ferrat and Monaco face the morning; the gulf of Saint-Tropez collects the evening, the sun dropping behind the Maures hills while the harbour water goes to brass. Pampelonne faces the sunrise, which almost nobody uses and always should. A wedding that starts with the sea at dawn and ends with the hills at dusk has used the peninsula properly.
Married in France, really
Here is the honest legal picture, because it decides the shape of your day. A legally binding wedding in France happens only at the Mairie, in French, and the law asks for a residency connection, in practice at least forty days, before a town hall will marry you. For most international couples that settles it: the papers are signed quietly at home, and Saint-Tropez hosts the real ceremony, the vows, the rings and the party, unhurried and anywhere you like.
This is better news than it sounds. A symbolic ceremony answers to no schedule but the light, can happen in a vineyard row or on a terrace over the bay at the exact golden minute, and photographs identically to a legal one, because what the camera records was never the signature. If you do hold residence in France, the Mairie of Saint-Tropez is a handsome civil setting, and we photograph the walk from the town hall through the lanes as its own small procession.
Getting here, and around
Plan the geography before the flowers. Nice airport is the usual door, ninety minutes away in theory and comfortably two hours in summer, more on a Saturday in August. The elegant shortcut is the helicopter transfer to La Môle, a quarter of an hour with the coast below you; the romantic one is arriving by sea into the Vieux Port, which is also the best photograph of the whole weekend.
In July and August the peninsula moves at walking pace, and we schedule like locals: nothing important on the road at six in the evening, portraits within walking distance of the venue, and the beach reached before noon or after the day crowd folds. June and September are the sweet spot, the sea warm, the roads sane, the light long. May is green, quiet and criminally underrated.
The houses and the sand
The peninsula's venues sort into five honest families. The hilltop château, above the village with the bay below, led by Château de la Messardière, whose field guide has its own page. The village legends, Byblos first among them, where the wedding borrows the energy of the town itself. The Ramatuelle estates, contemporary, cliff hung and discreet. The Pampelonne beach clubs, Club 55 and its peers, where receptions and symbolic ceremonies happen on the sand under concession rules and Ramatuelle's evening curfews, but legal weddings never do. And the vineyards of Gassin and Ramatuelle, golden rows and long tables, the least famous and often the best photographed choice.
We compare all of them honestly, style, season and fit, in our guide to the best Saint-Tropez wedding venues. And when the wedding wants the eastern coast instead, Cap Ferrat's gardens or a Monaco salon, the French Riviera field notes are the sibling page to this one.
Discretion, assured
Saint-Tropez guest lists photograph people for a living, or are photographed for one, and the peninsula in season is watched accordingly. We are comfortable being the only camera allowed to work: unpublished weddings, portfolio exclusions, non disclosure agreements and guest privacy protocols are standing practice here, not special requests. The archive can exist for two people only, and on this coast it often should.
Coverage and pricing live with the editions. For everything else there is the questions page, and the commission sheet is one page away.

Planning notes
Working in Saint-Tropez
When to marry here
June and September are the peninsula in balance, warm sea and sane roads. July and August bring the full glamour and the full gridlock, plan around both. May is green, quiet and underrated.
The two lights
The gulf collects the evening, the sun setting behind the Maures while the harbour goes to brass. Pampelonne faces the dawn. Use both and the album carries two different coasts.
Moving in season
Summer distances are measured in patience, not kilometres. We keep portraits within walking reach, cross the peninsula outside the rush hours, and treat a boat as the only honest taxi.
Asked about Saint-Tropez
Three honest answers
Can we legally get married in Saint-Tropez?
A binding ceremony happens only at the Mairie, in French, with a residency connection the law asks you to prove. Most international couples sign at home and hold the real ceremony here, vineyard, terrace or sand, which photographs identically and answers only to the light.
What does a Saint-Tropez wedding photographer cost?
Commissions begin at 6 500 euros, and most peninsula weddings choose The Edition, from 12 000 euros, with two photographers and a cinematic film. One transparent number covers travel and stays, quoted before you sign.
Can you photograph a beach club wedding on Pampelonne?
Yes, by commission. The sand hosts receptions and symbolic ceremonies rather than legal ones, the clubs work under concession rules and Ramatuelle keeps evening noise curfews, and inside those honest limits Pampelonne at golden hour is one of the great party stages in Europe.
