What does a Santorini wedding photographer cost?

The honest answer first. In 2026, established wedding photographers working Santorini quote roughly 2 000 to 6 000 euros for a full day, the luxury tier runs from about 7 000 to 18 000 euros, and combined photography and film at the top of the island market reaches 22 000. Santorini prices above the rest of Greece and close to the Italian coast, for reasons that are structural rather than greedy. This guide explains them.

The bands, plainly

Our own commissions begin at 6 500 euros for The Reportage and 12 000 for The Edition. We are a travelling atelier rather than an island studio, and that number includes flights, stays and the scouting day rather than adding them afterwards. If a quote sits far below the band its promises belong to, that gap is information.

What makes the island expensive

How much of the budget photography should take

Wedding industry data across Europe and the United States puts photography and film at ten to fifteen percent of the total, with twelve percent a common midpoint. On a 45 000 euro Santorini wedding that suggests roughly 4 500 to 6 500 euros. On a 120 000 euro caldera wedding with a film, closer to 15 000.

The percentage matters more than it looks, because photography and the film are the only line items still working ten years later. The terrace, the flowers and the sunset slot are gone by Sunday. The archive is what the money actually bought.

Reading a Santorini quote

When to book

Twelve to eighteen months out for a summer date, and the best studios close small calendars first. September and June go earliest.

The island's own field notes are on the Santorini page, venues are compared in our island shortlist, and couples marrying with nobody else present should read the elopement guide. What our own editions include is on the editions page, and the commission sheet answers within one working day.

Quick answers

Asked often

Why is Santorini more expensive than the rest of Greece?

Because the supply of good ceremony space is physically fixed. The caldera is a vertical wall, the terraces cut into it hold twenty five to sixty people, and nothing more can be built. Every couple wants the same two hours in the same four months, and scarcity does the rest.

Is a Santorini elopement much cheaper to photograph?

Considerably. One photographer, no guest logistics and a dawn session in an empty Oia costs a fraction of a full caldera wedding day, and most studios price it as their entry edition. It is the best value in Greek wedding photography.

Do we have to pay extra for the sunset ceremony slot?

Venues generally price it separately, yes. It is worth it if it is comfortably affordable and not worth stretching for. Dawn and blue hour are uncontested, cost nothing extra and photograph beautifully.

Should we hire an island photographer or bring one?

Either works if the person is good. An island studio knows the terraces and costs less in travel. A travelling atelier brings a consistent body of work and, if it quotes honestly, includes flights and the scouting day inside one number rather than adding them later.
