Weddings at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo

A belle epoque grand hotel on the western shore, the Tremezzo faces Bellagio across the widest, most photographed reach of Lake Como. Its terraces, its Art Nouveau facade and its famous pool floating on the lake make it one of the most complete wedding hotels in Italy, and a generous one to photograph.

The grand hotel on the water

The Tremezzo is a wedding venue and a working grand hotel at once, which is a quiet luxury: everything a wedding needs is on site, and the staff photograph weddings every week of the season and treat a photographer as a colleague rather than an intruder. The 1910 facade is pale pink and cream, the terraces step down to the shore, and the water pool sits out on the lake itself with Bellagio directly opposite.

That view across to Bellagio is the reason to be here. It is the classic wide reach of Como, the postcard the whole lake is famous for, and the Tremezzo owns the best seat in front of it. We build the day to put the two of you between the hotel and that water at the hour the far shore turns violet.

The frames that matter here

Working with a grand hotel

A hotel that hosts weddings all season is an easy partner. Timings are respected, the light on each terrace is known, and there is room to move between the formal and the intimate without the choreography a private villa demands. We still scout, because the Tremezzo's best hour depends on the season and the water, but the day tends to run with unusual calm.

The one thing to plan around is the public shore. The Tremezzo sits on Como's western road with the pool and terraces out over the lake, so the private moments are staged toward the water, away from the passing traffic. Handled well, the setting gives an album both grandeur and quiet in a single afternoon.

Planning notes

Working at Grand Hotel Tremezzo

i.

Everything on site

The Tremezzo is a full grand hotel, so getting ready, the ceremony, the dinner and the party can all live under one roof. We plan the light for each without a single transfer.

ii.

The Bellagio hour

The view across to Bellagio turns violet late in the day. We keep the floating pool and the terrace for that hour and let the earlier, softer light carry the ceremony.

iii.

Grandeur and quiet

The hotel gives an album both the grand facade and intimate corners. We stage the private frames toward the water, away from the shore road, so the day reads as calm as it feels.

Asked about this house

Three honest answers

Can you photograph the floating pool at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo?

It is the frame everyone wants here, the pool out on the lake with Bellagio behind at dusk. We plan the portraits for that hour with the hotel and your planner, and keep a second slot in case the light needs waiting for.

Is the Grand Hotel Tremezzo a good wedding venue?

It is one of the most complete on Lake Como, a full grand hotel with terraces, gardens, a lakefront and the best view of Bellagio on the lake. Everything happens on site, which makes for a calm, generous day to photograph.

Do you know the hotel's timings and light?

We do, and we still scout before every commission because the best hour shifts with the season and the water. The staff host weddings weekly and work with photographers as colleagues, which makes the day run smoothly.
