Дождь перестал за час до клятв, и всё заблестело. Орхидеи стекали по стеклу павильона, гравий пах летом, а свет пришёл вымытым до чиста.

Она одевалась медленно, как позволяют только лучшие утра. Платье русалка ждало на вешалке как инструмент, колье лежало в бархате, и комнату заполнила та особая тишина, которая бывает ровно перед тем, как откроется дверь.

К вечеру павильон превратился в золотое стекло. Орхидеи над головой, свечи на уровне глаз, а между ними очень простая вещь: двое, которые не могли перестать смотреть друг на друга.
